 Dogs have the ability to smell time !

Dogs don't just smell what is there, they  can also smell when it was there. Studies indicate that since scents diminish as time passes, dogs are able to figure out the time of day or how long you have been away from home based on the concentration of scent particles in the air.

The nose print of a dog is as unique as  a fingerprint in people.

Similar to the fact that every person has their own unique fingerprints. each dog has a singular nose print. The combination of ridges and creases is unique to every single dog and can be used for identification.

New Discovery Concealed Wolf DNA in Nearly All Dogs.

A new research study released in late 2025 found that nearly all modern dog breeds even small ones like Chihuahuas still contains traces of ancient wolf DNA in their  genomes. Earlier, researchers believed this DNA had been bred out, but it turns out that these old genes continue to affect dogs' behavior and survival skills in the present day.


Dogs align their bodies with the Earth’s magnetic field to poop !

A research article in Frontiers in Zoology revealed that dogs prefer to align their bodies along the North-South axis while defecating. They generally steer clear of the  East-West axis, probably due to their ability to sense magnetic fields.

Fun Facts :

 1- We often see spiked collars as a  fashion statement  or a symbol of a strong dog. But, they were first made in ancient Greece to protect the necks of herding dogs from attacks by wolves while they were watching over sheep.

2- Though the sinking of the Titanic resulted in numerous losses three dogs survived (one Pekingese and two Pomeranians) .Their small size allowed their owners to sneak them onto lifeboats by hiding them in blankets or coats.
