Pompeii is famous for the casts the hot ash formed around victims of the eruptions. The people suffocated on ash in the air, which then covered them and preserved incredible details of their clothing and faces.

The town of Pompeii, located about five miles from the mountain, where beautiful villas and Elegant houses lined the paved streets. townspeople bustled in and out of small factories and artisans’ shops, cafes and taverns , and brothels and bathhouses.

In August 79 A.D,Vesuvius erupted.spewed a deadly cloud, a plume of ashes, pumice, and scorching-hot volcanic gases so high into the sky  to a height of 33 kilometres that people could see it for hundreds of miles around. and the eruption lasted for two days

The remains of about 1500 people have been found at Pompeii and Herculaneum, but it is not known whether they represent a large or a small part of the total deaths.

In 1748, a group of explorers looking for ancient artifacts arrived in Campania and began to dig. They found that the ashes had acted as a amazing protective: Underneath all that dust, Pompeii's buildings were intact. Skeletons were frozen right where they’d fallen. Everyday objects and household goods littered the streets. Later archaeologists even loaves of bread and uncovered jars of preserved fruit !
